A bit of AU info: Rather than thoroughly destroying Franklin, Jason came a few hairs shy of finishing the job (failing to realize, in the heat of the moment, that the vampire hadn’t actually gone to goo). Franklin, body torn to shreds and blood drained, dragged himself into the forest, found a slight alcove, and used his remaining strength to burrow further into the ground. There he remained, nearly drained of life, until a couple of boys on a twilight search for buried treasure uncovered his body. Franklin grabbed one of the boys before he could move, and the other bolted before Franklin had taken enough blood to give chase. The boy’s blood gave Franklin enough energy to struggle closer to Merlotte’s, where he was able to pick off a would-be customer, retreat, and begin to heal in earnest.

And so, here we are.
